My first quote: From Nature- "The rays that come from those heavenly worlds, will seperate between him and what he touches." I liked this quote a lot. The stars and the universes, and planets out there, are the aspects of nature. The real goodness out there. I think that this quote is stating that that will come between men and their real good side and nice behavior. Man cannot really be what they are, they are too into the majority of the society. That nature represents the side that man doens't seem to accquire.
My second quote: From Nature- "If the stars should appear one night in a thousand years, how would men beleive and adore;" This quote is my favorite because it's very similar to a saying. It means that nature is such a huge party in our everydays life. For example, the stars are so beautiful to look at, and they giuve people hope and something to "adore," and love. So it gives them hope but without aspects of beauty/nature like this in the world than mankind wouldn't be very pleased and satisfied.
My third quote: From Self-Reliance- "I am ashamed to think how easily we capitulate to badges and names." I chose this quote because I don't really agree with it, but it is a quote I hear a lot and ponder on. What it means-is that society is very easily manipulated by what is out there, propaganda, whatever the majority is into, or groups people make so that if one joins they would be considered as a part of a group or a someone as opposed ot being a noone outside of the group. I disagree with it because for someone to really mak the inference that people just do it to be cool or to be apart of something-to become a "someone," is not wha tit is all about at all. For example, I am a kid whoi s really into expensive and exclusive sneakers. But I buy them because I love them, because I am attracted to them. I don't care if people don't like my outfit I have picked out iwht my shoes, or the shoes themseleves. I buy them because I like them. When one learns to not care what others think of him/her than they can really be themselves. At that point I don't think it will matter what you buy or wha tyou join, what you conform too, just that your not doing it, afraid of what the opinions from others would be if you didn't do whatever it was. People who label these people being different than him, is being ignorant and I think that this author is a very judgemental person, (also based on the rest of the reading.) When people buy designer clothing, or joing a gang, or become a member of a popular group, I beleive that they do it because it makes them happy inside. When they do whatever it is they feel good about themselves and it helps their day go well too. It gives you hope and satisfaction. Yes, there are people out there doing it because they are feeling uncomfortable or because they are insecure about themselves, but eventually I think hey get over it and that it becomes somethign they enjoy for their own selves.
My fourth quote: From Self-Reliance- "Trust thyself" This is small but it is very big and expansive. Trust thyself is to beleive in yourself, and not hsutdown your inner strengths. Really beleiving in yourself and making sure you know wha tyour capable of. You can do what you want but make sure that you know what your getting into and what kind of person you really are. Make sure you beleive what your getting into, and it doesn't get into what you do not concide with.
