First quote: "I was much affected by the faint hum of a mosquito making its invisible and unimaginable tour through my apartment at earliest dawn,..."
I chose this quote because I really like it. The author is discussing the morning routine of this character, and the morning how it brings back "the heroic ages." The thigns aorund the house such as the mosquito are bringing thoughts to the characters head about past times. The Iliad and the Odyssey. Homer, past moral values to learn from, etc.
"Little is to be expected of that day, if it can be called a day, to which we are not awakened by our Genius, but the mechanical nudgings of some servitor,..."
This quote is talking about man kind and that humans are lazy now days and we do not spend our days well. We spend them doing a lot less than we really could be doing.
